I love this photo because I care so much for the people in it. We had all climbed a fire escape staircase and two sets of ladders to reach the tallest rooftop on the building. They are all around 16-17, except for the second boy on the left who is in his mid twenties. He laughed about being the “hot chaperone.” I also love the view of the buildings, especially the Eastern Building, in downtown la. Taken with iPhone.
This was taken on the night of my would-be sixteenth birthday. The girl in this picture is one who inspires me every time I see her. This photo was taken in my room after we had dinner and champagne. I chose to overexpose this picture with flash to accent the presence of color that wasn’t found in the shade of white. Taken with iPhone.
This is a self portrait I took in my backyard. While setting up this shot, I decided that the tone would be cold and sharp, which is the editing I enjoy most at this point in my life. The sky was overcast. I closed my eyes before the shutter went off and and as I opened them I found the entire sky had changed from blue to a beautiful warm sunset. This is how the next portrait came out. Taken with Nikon D80.
This photo was chosen because there was no layering done in after effects or with a setting on my camera. I set the shutter speed to bulb and had a strobe light go off three times for the duration of the shutter. I instructed the model to make movements between each flash. I love this photo because this shoot was the last one I was able to do with two of my closest friends during photo class. Taken with Nikon D80.
I chose this as my last photo because it represents what direction I am trying to move towards in photography. This is an installation at the LACMA which I attended with my parents and my boyfriend (pictured). I want to move on to individual portraits rather than a collection from studio portraiture. It’s going to be an excellent experiment. Taken with iPhone.
I am Paloma and I like taking photographs. I do not believe art exists so don’t read into my mind please. Enjoy my explanations behind the following mundane photos. Enjoy your Monday and stay sane.
